Function-based behavioural interventions for sleep problems in children with developmental disabilities

This webinar will examine clinical work and research findings in the assessment and treatment of sleep problems in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders.

 

The focus of this hour-long session with Dr Laurie McLay will be on the use of functional behavioural assessment (FBA) informed approaches to the assessment and treatment of sleep problems in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders. The findings of a nationwide study will be presented.

Speaker

Presenter Dr Laurie McLay is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. The primary focus of her research is on the effectiveness of function-based interventions for sleep problems in children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disabilities, and the secondary benefit of improving sleep on children's daytime behaviour and parent and child wellbeing.
