Speakers
Dr Sheila Sivam runs the Narcolepsy and Hypersomnolence Clinic at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and is a member of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) Medicines Subcommittee, which is currently working on advocating for improved access to first line medications and research opportunities for narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. In addition, she is a member of the ASA Hypersomnolence Data Registry Working Group and co-chair of the Sydney Health Partners Sleep Health Clinical Academic Group. Dr Sivam also works part time at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Service.

Dr David Leinkram graduated dentistry from the University of Melbourne, Dr Leinkram worked as a hospital dentist in Griffith, NSW, before moving to Sydney to commence training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Leinkram received his medical degree from the University of Sydney and was a Junior Medical Officer at Prince of Wales Hospital. He was a specialist registrar at Westmead and John Hunter Hospitals and was subsequently appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer at Westmead Hospital. Dr Leinkram pursued further specialised training at Liverpool Hospital and at The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, where he has been appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer. He is actively involved in the education of fellow dentists and doctors as well as in the training of future Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Since completing his training in 2012, David has developed a keen interest in complex dental implant surgery, orthognathic surgery as well as the management of oral cancers.

Abstract submissions
Three early career researcher abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation of 7 minutes duration during the first session of the meeting, with 3 minutes of question time to follow. To be eligible, you should be a student or an early career researcher less than 6 years post-doctorate who is also an ASA member.

Your abstract must be a maximum of 300 words, including background with clear aims, methods, results and conclusion. Do not include tables, figures or images in your submission. Include all authors’ first and last names, including affiliations, with the presenting author’s name in bold. 

Abstracts are due by 5pm on Thursday 13 March. You will be notified by Friday 14 March for the outcomes of the abstract. If selected, presentations should include a conflict-of-interest statement.
