Our first SA Branch meeting was one of the last events before COVID-19 shut downs in 2020, and we are very excited to have you all for 2021 after such a successful start in 2020.
 
Students and ECRs – we want to hear about your research too! Shortly, an email will circulate inviting brief (200 word) abstracts on your topics. Given the lack of conferences in the last 12 months, our aim this time will be to fill as many ‘Research Blitz’ slots as possible in the hour we have available so you all have a chance to share your new research with our supportive ASA South Australia team!

Professor Peter Eastwood
Director, Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute

Professor Peter Eastwood is a Matthew Flinders Fellow; Director of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) and Dean (Research), College of Medicine and Public Health (CMPH), having commenced in both roles in November 2020. 

Professor Eastwood has made a significant contribution to research and leadership on sleep disorders and chronic lung disease.  He was the Director of The Raine Study, Deputy Director of the Institute for Respiratory Health and inaugural Director of the Centre for Sleep Science at the University of Western Australia.

Professor Eastwood collaborates with national and international institutes including University of Queensland, University of Sydney, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, University of Newcastle, University of Oxford, Johns Hopkins University, University of California, San Francisco, University of Pennsylvania and Karolinska Institute.  He has authored over 200 papers and is an inventor on 4 patents.

Professor Eastwood is the Asia/Australasia representative on the World Sleep Society Governing Council; and the immediate Past President of the Australasian Sleep Association.

Professor Eastwood is the Immediate Past Editor in Chief, Respirology; Deputy Editor, Respirology Case Reports and member of Editorial Board, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport.  He is currently a member of several Industry Advisory Boards.
