Dr Dement was a leading authority in the field of sleep medicine, with major accolades being a key force in the founding of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Center at Stanford University. He was an author of many books and articles, and often known by his legacy as one of the founding fathers of sleep medicine.
