Call for expressions of interest
The Sleep Disorders Services Accreditation Program is run jointly by the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) and the ASA.
The ASA's Sleep Disorders Services Accreditation Advisory Committee (SDSAAC) oversees the program and is seeking for expressions of interest in joining the committee from members based in New Zealand. Either a sleep scientist or sleep physician from New Zealand is needed to ensure geographical representation on the Advisory Committee.
The SDSAAC is chaired by an ASA member and includes:
- Paediatric sleep physician
- Sleep scientists.
NATA provides the secretariat for the Committee and is responsible for the delivery and operational aspects of the accreditation program.
Committee members are appointed for their knowledge and technical expertise. The duties of a Committee member include:
- providing advice on the review of ASA/NATA’s accreditation criteria applicable to Sleep Disorders Services
- review of assessment reports for applicant and accredited facilities, where required
- provision of advice, as requested, on technical issues arising from assessment activities
- review and approval of the appointment of technical assessors.

Applicants must:
- have substantial practical experience in the sleep health sector
- be familiar with NATA’s accreditation criteria and processes (preferably through either practical experience in an accredited facility or experience as a NATA technical assessor)
- be committed to NATA and the accreditation process
- abide by NATA’s policies, including the need to maintain confidentiality, be objective, act impartially and to declare any conflicts of interes
- prepare for and attend AAC meetings.
