Starting the journey to Fellow of Dental Sleep Medicine certification

Applications are now open for the ASA’s first ever clinical certification program – the Fellow of Dental Sleep Medicine (FDSM).

The FDSM certification offers assurance to referring physicians and patients alike that a dentist has achieved minimum clinical competencies in dental sleep medicine. Requirements include a three-hour multiple choice examination, a case logbook, and complex case reports.

“We’re excited to be welcoming our first cohort of FDSM candidates into the program in 2022, ahead of our first examination to be held at Sleep DownUnder in the first week of November,” said ASA CEO, Marcia Balzer.

“All the information you need on the program is on our website, and we’ll also be running some information sessions for candidates to help them navigate all the program requirements.

“It’s easy to apply – just visit the ASA’s new Learning Centre. Once you’re logged in, complete the application form and we’ll get in touch to let you know what happens next.”
