Research awards now open

The ASA Research Committee is pleased to announce the opening of the following Awards: 

  • Helen Bearpark Scholarship
    This scholarship is to facilitate international travel and exchange in order to develop skills in sleep research or clinical sleep medicine. 
  • Nick Antic Career Development Award 
    This award is intended to assist an ASA member to develop experience or knowledge to support their development as a leader in the field of sleep. 
  • Fisher & Paykel Sleep Research Travel Award 
    This award will support an early or mid-career researcher for travel and accommodation costs that will further that researcher's field of study, or showcase the researcher's sleep research to a scientific audience.

Announcing new NEST mentor award

  • NEST Mentor Award
    This award recognises and honors an exceptional mentor in the fields of sleep health and sleep science.

Applications for all awards must be submitted online via the ASA website by Friday 1st July 2022. 

The successful applicants will be announced at the annual scientific conference - Sleep DownUnder 2022 in Brisbane 7-11 November.

The ASA and The Private Practice have come together to create an intensive weekend of learning experiences for ASA members in private clinical practice at Sydney’s Coogee Beach.

It’s relevant to members in private practice from any discipline, and will cover a range of topics related to building a successful practice, managing finances, and planning for the future. An extra day is allocated on Friday for Advanced Trainees to focus on the transition to private practice, joining with more experienced clinicians for the weekend sessions. 

  • Transition to Practice: 17-19 June 2022 for recent trainees, recent fellows, and consultants

Women in health eligible for leadership development scholarships

Women in health are now able to apply for a partial leadership development scholarship from Women & Leadership Australia. 


Scholarships will support participation in one of four courses designed for women in non-leadership roles through to senior leaders. Apply by Friday 10 June or find out more

 
 

TSANZ Non-Invasive Ventilation Workshop

Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) are hosting a Non-Invasive Ventilation Workshop, on 14-15 May.


This hybrid NIV workshop offers a combination of didactic and discussion-based teaching at the basic-intermediate level. The course is particularly useful for Respiratory and Sleep Medicine trainees, however is open to all respiratory nurses, medical, and allied health members interested in respiratory failure and non-invasive ventilation.
