The Neuroscience Council of the ASA is a grouping of researchers and clinicians who have an interest in the neuroscience of sleep – this includes the monitoring of sleep patterns in the brain, the way sleep is affected in neurological and mental health disorders, and the effects of brain-altering medication on sleep structure and function.
The Council is made up of researchers from a number of disciplines, as well as neurologists, psychologists and psychiatrists who work with individuals who suffer from sleep disorders.
Aims:
- Promote knowledge of the neurological basis of sleep disorders within ASA membership
- Encourage and promote research efforts in this area
- Educate other health professionals about the importance of sleep and its disorders, particularly within the psychology, neurology and psychiatry spheres
