The Neuroscience Council of the ASA is a grouping of researchers and clinicians who have an interest in the neuroscience of sleep – this includes the monitoring of sleep patterns in the brain, the way sleep is affected in neurological and mental health disorders, and the effects of brain-altering medication on sleep structure and function.

The Council is made up of researchers from a number of disciplines, as well as neurologists, psychologists and psychiatrists who work with individuals who suffer from sleep disorders.

Aims:

  1. Promote knowledge of the neurological basis of sleep disorders within ASA membership
  2. Encourage and promote research efforts in this area
  3. Educate other health professionals about the importance of sleep and its disorders, particularly within the psychology, neurology and psychiatry spheres
