SAANZ Annual Emerging Researcher Award

This  award recognises and encourages researchers who are early in their career. The award is based on their research record and service to the field of sleep in Aotearoa New Zealand. The award is generously supported by the Sleep Apnoea Association of New Zealand (SAANZ), but the nominee’s area of expertise can be in any field of sleep.

ASA members will be asked to submit their nominations to the NZ branch executive. 
Nominees must be no more than 5 years after their last post-graduate degree at the time of application (exclusive of career breaks), and be a current member of the ASA. It is the nominator’s responsibility to ensure that the nominee is aware of the nomination. The NZ branch executive will select the final recipient.

Submission details. Please include: 

  • Your name, contact details, and membership number 
  •  Your nominee's name, contact details and membership number 
  •  An up to date CV for the nominee which should include a summary of their education and career, relevant publications, presentations, and service contributions (no more than 4 pages). 
  •  A sentence describing the main criteria the nominee should be awarded for 
  •  A supporting statement (up to 750 words) addressing the nominee’s professional contributions to the field of sleep and describing how your nominee has contributed more broadly to the scientific community, including service, with examples as relevant.  

Nominations open 1 May
Nominations close 10 June

The award will be presented during the closing session of the annual Sleep in Aotearoa conference.
