Feedback on Medicare rebates for sleep studies
The Department of Health and Aged Care has asked ASA for advice on a proposal to change how Level 1 sleep studies are reimbursed through Medicare. The Clinical Committee is asking members for input to help formulate our response to the proposal.
Currently, the following Medicare item numbers are eligible for 75% rebates if conducted in a hospital setting, or 85% rebates if conducted in a non-hospital setting:
The Department is seeking advice whether any or all of these item numbers should only be undertaken in a hospital setting (and therefore would no longer be eligible for an 85% rebate in the future).
We’d like to hear from members whether these item numbers should continue to be able to be undertaken in a non-hospital setting for a rebate of 85%. If you can also provide a rationale for your feedback, that would be helpful.
If you’d like further information on this issue, or would like to comment, please contact the CEO, Marcia Balzer. Feedback and comments need to be received by close of business on Wednesday 31 January.
