SA State Meeting 2024

We are pleased to open bookings for the next South Australian state meeting, which will be held on Tuesday 28 May 2024, 6pm at Ayers House 288 North Terrace, Adelaide.

Enjoy an evening of networking with drinks and canapes, hear from our sensational speakers; along with students and early career researchers sharing their research insights.

Keynote Speaker: Andrew Phillips is an Associate Professor and Matthew Flinders Fellow at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of circadian disruption.

Keynote presentation: Emerging evidence suggests that the regularity of sleep patterns plays a critical role in health. Yet, sleep health recommendations remain focused on sleep duration. Using the largest public actigraphy dataset to date (UK Biobank, N>85,000), we examined what is a better predictor of mortality: sleep duration or sleep regularity? Using light exposure patterns recorded in the same dataset, we then tested the hypothesis that healthy light exposure patterns are predictive of better mental health outcomes. Finally, we applied computational modelling to infer the effects of light exposure patterns on the human circadian clock.
