Dental Sleep Medicine 2013
Since 2008 the ASA has taken the lead in educating dentists in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) using oral appliances. Many dentists currently in clinical practice will have graduated with a dental degree prior to the introduction of dental sleep medicine to the undergraduate curriculum. In the past 15 years, the evidence for the efficacy of oral appliances in the management of sleep disordered breathing and snoring has established this treatment modality in routine clinical practice.
