Why are we failing on our weight loss attempts, long-term and what can we do to increase our chance of success?
07 September 2021

Despite the hype associated with diets, fewer than 5% succeed on their weight loss journey long-term.

How often have you heard someone say: ‘It’s easy – you need to eat less and move more!’ This piece of advice dates back as far as Hippocrates in the fourth century BC, and not much has changed since. Diets are based on this very foundation and despite their different approaches, they are all essentially the same. They set a caloric restriction and develop a set of arbitrary rules to create a fear of certain foods, to ensure you consume less. But whenever you restrict the number of calories you eat, powerful biological forces come into play to fight the resulting weight loss.
