The past, present and future of orexin agonists

Orexin receptor agonists are currently under development for the treatment of disorders of hypersomnolence. Early clinical trial results are exciting for both patients and clinicians, as they represent the potential to change the treatment landscape.

Sleep physicians and researchers will soon need to work within this new clinical landscape, so an overview of the orexin system, and how this class of medication works will be provided.
The latest clinical trial evidence will be presented across the different drug development pipelines, including clinical insights from Australian clinicians who have worked as Principal Investigators on both short- and long-term trials of orexin agonists, including ongoing trials

What are the 2-3 key points that the audience will take away after attending this webinar?
•This webinar will provide an overview on the orexin system, the drug development pipelines, and the rationale for their use in disorders of hypersomnolence.
•The latest clinical trial evidence from multiple orexin agonist drug development programs will be clearly described for a clinical audience. This will include published trial data and the latest data available from the pharmaceutical companies.
• Speakers include Australian clinicians who have worked with participants on short- and long-term clinical trials of different orexin agonist molecules, enabling clinical insights into the use of these medications.

Who would benefit from attending this webinar?
Sleep physicians and trainees working with patients who have narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. Researchers interested in the orexin system and its manipulation, drug development, and central disorders of hypersomnolence.

Speakers:
Julia Chapman, Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Clinical Trials Lead, Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Macquarie University
